About Tony

Tony Lam

Tony is a video producer, visual storyteller, and indie filmmaker with nearly two decades of experience. He built his career in Los Angeles, where he had the opportunity to work with Hollywood producers, directors, and cinematographers as well as executives at high-end media agencies.

For 5 years, Tony produced and filmed over 100 regional TV spots for McDonalds and Toyota. He has also done work for Verizon, ABC, Disney and the City of Los Angeles, among a wide range of clients, big and small.

On projects, he has served in a diversity of roles, as director, producer, director of photography, videographer, editor, writer, and consultant. His work has taken him across the country and internationally, and ranges from documentary films to television to corporate videos to event videography.

Tony has interviewed and filmed the stories of hundreds of individuals in diverse fields of endeavor. Through this extensive professional experience together with his academic background in literature and history, Tony has a refined sense of narrative and the ability to capture the essence of a story and express it visually.

His documentary work has received funding from organizations like CalHumanities (a partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities) and the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation. His documentary, Vincent Who?, has screened in over 600 venues throughout the U.S. and overseas, and won the 2009 Media Award from the National Association for Multicultural Education.

Prior to embarking on a video production career, Tony worked in the areas of technology, internet, and marketing. Past employers include Deloitte & Touche, the University of Michigan Multimedia Center, and a number of business start-ups. Consequently, Tony understands the strategic and marketing needs of clients and brings a broad-minded and multi-faceted approach to every project.

Tony regards himself as a free-spirited citizen of the world. He has lived abroad and traveled widely to many countries, giving him abundant experiences from which to draw ideas and inspiration in his work.
